It's called playing out the string. That's essentially what the 2009-10 season has become for the Sixers.
With 20 games remaining, the Sixers are 23-39 and, even with Sunday's 114-101 victory over the Raptors, need a miracle to make the playoffs for the third consecutive year.
Head coach Eddie Jordan said there are plenty of teams in the same boat at this stage of the season.
"I think it's part of the NBA life," Jordan said. "It's our job to keep them up and keep them inspired, and it's their job to continue to play hard. We've just got to do extra things to make sure we're playing with inspiration."
The Sixers haven't seemed too inspired in going 1-5 in the past six games.
